Doo-Bop Bar

A Brisbane CBD piano bar where the crowd doesn't just watch whoever's on the keys — they sing along.

Overview

Doo-Bop opened on Edward Street in 2017, founded by a father-and-son team as Brisbane's first late-night jazz bar. The venue once ran three levels — a basement jazz room, the ground-floor Piano Bar and an upstairs event space — but today the focus sits squarely on the Piano Bar, with the basement kept on for private functions rather than public gigs.

Live music runs Tuesday to Saturday, with local pianists and singers working through a set list built for a room that likes to join in rather than just listen. Cocktails are the drink of choice, poured to match whatever mood the night's performer sets.

It's a locally owned, independent operation — same original owners, and a crowd of regulars who've stuck with it through every version of the venue. Drop in after work, on a date night, or any night the idea of a bar full of strangers singing along to a piano sounds like a good one.
