Eat Street Northshore

Overview

Eat Street Northshore turned a disused stretch of the Brisbane River waterfront in Hamilton into a permanent food precinct, stacking shipping containers into stalls, bars and laneways rather than starting from scratch. It's grown steadily since opening in the early 2010s — more than 60 permanent vendors and around 70 traders now operate across the site, backed by five on-site bars.

The precinct splits into loosely themed pockets rather than one long strip: the Main Deck runs South American, Middle Eastern and European stalls under a covered stage, Kombi Alley pairs a giant disco ball with fairy lights and dessert specialists like The Doughnut Bar, and the Trawler Deck sticks to seafood — fish and chips, fresh oysters, and a vintage Moreton Bay trawler on display as the sun goes down. There's also a mad-scientist corner turning out churros and fairy floss, and a Diner Bar doing American-style pizza and loaded burgers alongside Peruvian and Indian stalls.

Three stages keep the entertainment running once the food's sorted — local bands, DJs, fire eaters, acrobats and magicians rotate through on Friday and Saturday nights, backed by a 10pm licence that lets the whole precinct run more like a carnival than a market as the evening wears on.

Entry runs around $6, with kids under 13 and carers let in free, and dogs are welcome on a short leash. Parking is free at the on-site 1,400-vehicle carpark, or take the CityCat ferry straight to the dock.
