Overview

As the neighbouring bar to cultural hub The Judith Wright Centre, Glass Bar is the ideal watering hole for a pre-show cocktail. But you'd be mistaken in writing Glass off as a mere pit stop. Its polished wooden floors, seductive mood lighting and sleek modern furnishings mean Glass can hold its own as a bar with sex appeal.

On any given night you can find the venue buzzing with a relaxed, arty crowd listening to a live jazz band. The atmosphere is nonchalantly cool and designed for crowds wanting a night of exotic flavours and eclectic tunes. The bar's tapas menu, while rather small, is deliciously inventive, and for those more ravenous moments, Glass also offers a range of gourmet pizzas. When in the mood for a tipple there is a small selection of Australian and New Zealand wines on offer, as well as popular imported beers like Kirin, Tiger and Hoegaarden. The range of cocktails served however is a lot more extensive, from the typical bar classics as well as Glass' own crafty creations. The Alpine Spice and Honey, Apple and Pepper cocktail were just a few of the names that stood out during a session of adventurous taste testing.

But it's not the tapas or cocktails that keep guests coming back. The venue's addictive and effervescent vibe is largely thanks to the friendly and accommodating staff, the quality live performances and the venue's ideal location.
