Overview

After a hearty run at fresh art-space, BoxCopy, Chris Howlett's exhibition makes it's way to Metro Arts.

From online avatars to Middle-Eastern revolutionary displays of protests, celebrity obsessed Australian culture to sexuality, Chris Howlett in his latest exhibit, New Dawn, pursues his craft to the most divergent of mediums. As an exemplary multitasker, skilled in everything from installation, performance, sound art and digital modding, Howlett has an expressed willingness to engage with big themes and issues other artists would find to daunting – New Dawn shows he is indeed a man with no fear.

This stage of New Dawn will consist of a three channel machinima projection which conflates popular myths surrounding near death experiences, extraterrestrial encounters, UFO sightings and new age spirituality, all entwined with the conspiracy theories, then neatly mapped onto the medieval, magical video game Skyrim.

New Dawn will be showing from the 11th to the 28th of September, with Chris Howlett presenting an artist talk on Wednesday the 18th - don't miss it.
