I Feel Awful

Overview

Oooh, it’s exciting when a piece of theatre is heralded as being ‘non-theatre, theatre’, theatre that takes the piss out of ‘real theatre’. It means that we don’t know at all what to expect.

Black Lung Theatre and Whaling Company are really being touted as the bad boys of the Australian theatre scene, and now they are bringing their brand of cutting edge, unpredictable performance to Brisbane with a new work especially commissioned by the Queensland Theatre Company.

There are hints as to what we can expect: there will be some jumping and stomping all over traditional notions of theatre, but apparently they will also take us on theatrical journeys to Vietnam, China and Turkey, fabulous.  Of course there will be adventurous humor to boot, and I’ve heard rumors of a glitter cannon…

In terms of actual content, who knows?  These are guys who aren’t afraid to get naked for their art (hellooo ladies!), and who have been known to tell a quality crass jokes be damned the consequences.  Essentially, if you like cutting edge, ballsy (perhaps literally), unique theatre then this is the show for you.
