Oh Paul Dempsey, with your soulful voice, slim figure and sad eyes; whenever I see a picture of you I want to take you home, feed you roast, fatten you up and ‘happify’ those eyes. I wouldn’t change the voice though, the voice can always remain soulfully melancholic.
He’s been around awhile now, old Paul, playing frontman with Something for Kate from 1995 til 2009, then taking a little break to do some solo work. His first solo album Everything is True was released in 2009 and highly and widely acclaimed, winning favour with critics and audiences alike.
Paul and his lady, fellow Something-For-Kate-er Stephanie Ashworth, relocated to New York City last year, and we haven’t seen either of them round these parts since. Never fear though, Paul is returning to Brisbane this week with some new stuff from both of his outfits.
On this tour he will be roadtesting tunes from the forthcoming SFK album as well as new solo work. Of course there will also be some of his classics performed too, so you can ‘Echolalalalalalaia’ along with Paul’s beautiful, beautiful voice. You better get along to this one, because I can only imagine the more they fall in love with NYC, the less they will be returning to home soil!
