Brisbane's Riverside at the Gardens Market is turning 40, and to celebrate, they are holding a big birthday extravaganza on Sunday, October 19. Founded by Peter Hackworth in 1986, the market moved to the City Botanic Gardens in 2015 and has since become a beloved hub for locals.

Taking place from 8am to 3pm, the anniversary event promises a day packed with plenty of activities, including live music, Brazilian dancing and puppet shows. Kids can also enjoy face painting and a balloon-twisting clown. While adults can peruse what Riverside at the Gardens Market does best, and that's its market stalls of global cuisine, fresh produce, fashion and artisanal goods.

Brisbane's longest running market is also home to plenty of homemade goodies, like chutneys, honey, flower teas, as well as hand-painted silk scarves, hats, shirts and jewellery. For those looking for something special, Beech Mountain Distillery will showcase its new line of native botanical spirits, including the exclusive Botanica de Terra Australis gin. Guests can also enter a draw to win a goodie basket with every purchase made.
