Overview
Forget saving up and forking out for a Rocky Mountains Scenic Tour — Brisbane's just created the next best thing. Steam Train Blues is a seven-hour trip that takes passengers from Roma Street to the Glass House Mountains, and throws a hell of a blues bash along the way.
This isn't some Rosewood to Ipswich sleeper we're talking here; rather, a stunningly restored steam train. It will be chugging passengers along to the sounds of Brisbane’s best blues musicians — Dick and Lolo, Moondogs Blues, Jimmy Watts, Jimi Davis and Ben Eaton — on the way to the Glass House Mountains and homeward bound. Passengers will be greeted with a drink on arrival, and nibbles and other drinks will be available throughout the journey.
It's a roughly 80-minute trip to the Glass House Mountains, and the party doesn't stop there. Guests will stroll a few metres to the Glass House Mountains Tavern and be met with finger food and the award-winning blues sounds of Mojo Webb.
The journey kicks off at 2.15pm, and you're promised home at 9.04pm on the dot. Tickets are $137.50, and Go Cards will not be accepted.
