Kennigo Social House - CLOSED

Old meets new meets yum.

Overview

Old meets new at Spring Hill's latest addition — and both meet yum, too. You'd expect that kind of combo in a restaurant that brings new decor and dining options to a building with plenty of history, all while serving up dishes such as house-cured salmon for breakfast, crispy fried crumbed pork neck for dinner and a flourless chocolate cake with coriander seed spiced creme for dessert.

First, the spot itself: if you've ever noticed an old Queenslander on Kennigo Street, then you've seen KSH's digs. The 130-year-old dwelling was once a men's boarding house, and while it has been given a new lease on life, fixtures such as the century-old stained glass front door remain.

Now, the other stuff: when it comes to food, glorious food, you won't go hungry here. Open for breakfast daily, lunch on Saturday and dinner every night of the week except Sunday, KSH's menu spans everything from the aforementioned meals to buttermilk and vanilla pancakes topped with Sunny Coast berries, an Aussie cheese board, and linguini with Queensland prawns, zucchini flowers and cherry tomatoes. And then there's the KSC, or Kennigo Social chicken wings in a spicy seasoning. When something's named after the eatery, you have to try it, don't you?
