Overview

Prefer your wine without a big ol' side of pretentiousness? Well, so do Vianney Establet (Vue de Monde) and Shiung Low. They're the owners of Abbotsford wine bar V Wine Salon, where the overarching philosophy is that top-notch vino should be accessible to all.

It's a chic yet easygoing place, showing big love for small producers and a great talent for food and wine pairing. Here, you can load up on a bit of wine knowledge, expand your vinous horizons, or simply kick back and unwind over a couple of glasses of something tasty and affordable — perhaps the Gueissard Le Petit G rosé from France ($11), or the Barossa's 2019 Tscharke grenache blend ($12). Ideally, whatever you're sipping will be matched to bites from the stacked cheese trolley and hefty lineup of charcuterie.

The expansive rotation of wines by the glass ensures fresh discoveries with every visit, while Thursday and Saturday tasting sessions offer a regular peek at the latest and greatest sips heading to the wine list. On Wednesdays, an easy $10 will get you two tasting pours paired with cheese, with each week's match-ups curated carefully by Head Sommelier Establet.

And, every Thursday, you're invited to bring along food from one of the many nearby restaurants to enjoy in-house. The experts will even help you select the perfect wine match to go with your dinner.
