Radiohead are like the cool kids in school who can do no wrong, and so with typical understatement, the band announced last week the imminent release of their eighth studio album, The King of Limbs. And by 'imminent', they pretty much meant by the end of the week. The band took pre-orders for the record exclusively through their website, and it has now been made available to legally download.

For the next few weeks, The King of Limbs will be available in two versions: an MP3 or WAV digital download, or a made to order 'deluxe' edition, which is comprised of two clear 10" vinyl records, a CD, a digital download and exclusive artwork all in a highly exciting and enigmatic 'newspaper' format. The album will then go on general release in all music stores from March 25. Alternatively, you can stream it here.

Since exploding out of the Brit Pop scene in the early '90s, Radiohead have been one of the most innovative, critically acclaimed and just plain beautiful bands around. Radiohead are always ahead of the game, and The King of Limbs, with it's abrupt and mysterious announcement, comes in the wake of 2007's In Rainbows, which was digitally released with a 'pay what you think it's worth' clause. The thing is, you know that whatever Radiohead release is going to be incredible, because even their worst stuff is awesome. The album, like any Radiohead release, might just take a few listens to appreciate.
