Overview

The artists represented in New Friends, Art and Adventure love clay and know how to use it. They understand that ‘ceramic’ doesn’t only mean vases and bowls, while paying homage and their respects to these classic forms. The exhibition showcases diversity: from organic pod sculptures to a rendered brick wall, from a traditional floral vase to a skeletal bell-like shape. It also represents a variety of approaches and techniques with twelve artists from Australia, Japan, Indonesia, India, Cambodia and Laos coming together.

To coincide with the twelfth Australian Ceramics Triennale, New Friends, Art and Adventure will open Thursday 16 July.
