Arcade Fire’s ‘The Wilderness Downtown’ Judged the World’s Best Website in 2010
Arcade Fire's e-experience is personalised nostalgia that digitally taps into places to which we were once connected to spark memories of a distant past.
Music video has come a long way: compare this little Beatles beauty with The Wilderness Downtown, Arcade Fire's e-experience like no other. Best viewed with Google Chrome, it's personalised nostalgia that digitally taps into places to which we were once connected to spark memories of a distant past.
An HTML5 interactive music video experiment, the website features Google gadgets and the combined creative genius of Chris Milk (Writer/Director), Aaron Koblin (Technology Director), Radical Media, B-Reel and Arcade Fire. It just won Website of the Year in the 2010 Favourite Website Awards, beating the best of the best hands down.
FWA Founder Rob Ford said "When I clicked on The Wilderness Downtown submission link and the experience started I was totally floored... something I haven't experienced for years. I knew immediately this site would win Site Of The Year."
