Bottom of the Harbour Seafoods

A family-run fish and chip shop that's been feeding Balmoral Beach locals since 1989.

Overview

Bottom of the Harbour has been a fixture on Balmoral Beach since 1989, family-owned and run on the same stretch of sand ever since. It's a grab-and-go operation built for beach days: order at the counter, then find a spot on the grass or the sand while it's cooked to order.

The menu covers the fish-and-chip shop staples: think battered or crumbed New Zealand hake, salt-and-pepper squid, and a fisherman's basket loaded with prawn cutlets, fish cocktails, and calamari. There's also a grilled section built around the daily catch from the Sydney Fish Market, with market fish, octopus, calamari and prawn skewers all cooked over the grill. For those after something heartier, the burger list runs from a classic beef original to the Full Monty, stacked with bacon, egg, cheese and onion jam, alongside a handful of salads, milkshakes and smoothies to round it out.
