Overview
Ever wondered what goes on deep under the ocean, in the dead of night? This month, you'll get a taste of exactly that, when Sea Life Sydney Aquarium opens its doors for a 24-hour-straight stint, uncovering all the murkiest of after-dark, deep-sea secrets.
Running from Tuesday, November 27, right through the following day, the event will show off the aquarium's new Great Barrier Reef exhibition in a whole new light.
Guests can swing by anytime throughout the extended experience, though for something very special, jump on one of the after-dark guided tours. Marine biologists will lead guests through the various exhibits, explaining the nocturnal habits of the ocean critters and letting you get up close and personal with all array of turtles, jellyfish, sharks and fish, including a huge 126-kilogram Queensland Grouper called Bow. If you're lucky you might even catch sharks mating (quite a sight, apparently) or a seahorse giving birth.
The guided tours will run at 8pm, midnight, 2am and 4am, and set you back $24. The ticket price includes aquarium entry, a one-hour guided tour, goodie bag and snacks along the way.
