Overview

Every October for the past 23 years, artworks have lined the Bondi–Tamarama coastal walk as part of the annual Sculpture by the Sea exhibition. This year's event has been postponed until 2021 — but a new slightly similar event is going ahead on the other side of Sydney Harbour.

Modelled on the Salon des Refusés, which exhibits artworks that were not selected for the ArchibaldLes Sculptures Refusées is an outdoor exhibition of Sculpture by the Sea rejects. The inaugural exhibition is running from Friday, October 16 to Thursday, November 19 at Manly's Q Station — originally a quarantine station for diseased immigrants back in the 1800s — which, despite its morbid history, has stunning views across Sydney and the harbour.

The openair exhibition is free to visit and no timed tickets are required. If you time your visit right, it can coincide with a Saturday afternoon Sunset Session or a High Tea at the G&Tea house, which is open from Friday to Sunday.
