Among the famous names who have kicked off their careers following a stint at Australia's oldest and largest youth theatre company are Nicole Kidman, Toni Collette and Aden Young. Scheduled for a four-week stint at Walsh Bay's beautiful harbourside playhouse — The Rebel Theatre — between Wednesday, October 12 and Wednesday, November 9, it is a run that promises to be both brief and brilliant.

A poetic and poignant stage adaptation of the award-winning Favel Parrett novel by the same name, Past the Shallows follows the heartfelt yet often harrowing dynamics between three Tasmanian brothers and their alcoholic father. Equal parts confronting and compelling, this lyrical production is a story of uncovered family secrets, unbreakable brotherly bonds and unlikely friendships.
