Overview

A night at the theatre does not necessarily end after the third curtain call, and nor should it in some cases. Version 1.0 is a Sydney-based company that recognises the potential power in theatre as a tool of community awareness and transformation. Furthermore, they understand that to properly affect you must show and not tell – for the preacher is always alone in his or her pulpit.

This kind of ruckus is Version 1.0’s new offering, an exploration of violence in our homes and in the footy codes that, for many Australians, are vital to our cultural identity. When the politics of power and control are so prevalent in domestic life, what are the consequences of having sex-scandal sports stars as our most readily available role models? Are we marked by the sins of the football?

We have 5 double passes to give away for the preview this Thursday night, thanks to Performance Space! Just email your details to [email protected] with 'This Kind of Ruckus' in the subject line.
