52 Bars in 52 Weeks
In late March, the Australian Government forced the closure of bars across the country as the COVID-19 pandemic swelled. While temporary relief came in the form of eased restrictions on takeaway and delivery booze, for many, their main source of income was gone — for two months. Thankfully, many of the city’s drinking holes weathered the storm, either by launching cocktail delivery services, take-home party packs or affordable frozen meals, or by performing some impressive financial calisthenics.
Now that many have reopened, we wanted to take this opportunity to check in, to find out how bar owners adapted — and what, if any, changes they’ve made permanently. We’re also calling on those who can, to get out and support their favourite bars once again. We want you to pull up a seat, every week — whether that’s virtually, or in person. So, strap in and get ready to dive into 52 bars in 52 weeks.
