Overview

In the ever-changing landscape that is the Newtown food scene, sometimes you need to seek solace in a familiar favourite. Whether you've actually been to Satellite before is entirely beside the point. The menu is lengthy and quite evenly balanced between savoury and sweet. Crowd favourites include the 'scrams' (AKA scrambled eggs with a twist) and the French Hot Mess: french toast with orange blossom curd and pink Turkish ice cream. This isn't a new, shiny venue that is trying to woo you with fad ingredients or over-the-top concoctions. Filled with mismatched furniture, clashing wall art and plants hanging from the ceiling, Satellite feels like the Newtown of ten years ago. Everything from the staff to the menu to the cluttered interior is welcoming and warm.
