Overview

If you're serious about your sneakers, find your way to a glowing white space snuggled in Sydney's CBD. Subtype is one of the city's go-to for limited edition sneakers and contemporary apparel. Founded as a passion project by Leith Testoni and Jonathan Yeo, directors of Australian label Zanerobe, Subtype showcases the big names in the sneaker game like Nike and Adidas as well as boutique sneaker brands like Filling Pieces.

"We love sneakers," says Yeo. "As a team focused primarily on designing apparel collections, we naturally complete a Zanerobe styled look with the best complimentary footwear and accessories. For us, unearthing new, progressive designs/brands is as fulfilling as designing apparel collections."

Subtype don't just do sneakers though. You can pick up pieces from local and international streetwear labels handpicked by the Subtype team, and 2016 will see the launch of Subtype Curated Sport, limited apparel capsule collections focused on streetwear essentials like tees and bomber jackets.

Over the last year, Subtype have been pretty damn busy outside of their sneaker and streetwear shenanigans. The store has played host to Q&As, interviews and store visits from big names such as Joey Bada$$, Jeff Staple and A$AP FERG, and they've done collaborations with the likes of Dutch-born, Sydney-based sneakerfreaker Caroll Lynn aka Careaux, Brisbane producer Young Franco and Australian music venture Heaps Decent. Keep an eye on their socials for upcoming events.
