Overview

When one thinks of springtime, they might think of lambs and daffodils and warmer weather. All of these things are pretty great. But do you know what would make springtime even better? Beer. Well the beer gods must be smiling down on us, because our prayers for beer have been answered by way of Beervana. Wellington’s very own craft beer celebration is back in August and is fittingly spring themed.

I’m not quite sure what to call Beervana without offending beer-enthusiasts. Actually, they're more than enthusiasts. They are more like beer-gurus. And Beervana is their annual conference, where they discuss beer, make beer, educate on beer, and most importantly, drink a whole lot of beer. Beer amateurs will leave the celebration as enthusiasts after being taught the ways of enjoying, discussing and even brewing craft beer. There are over 200 different craft beers on offer from all over the nation, as well as a few visiting Aussie brewers who are coming to share their beer.

Beer aside, there will be a range of restaurant and cafe folk set up to absorb the liquor and keep stomachs happy. House of Dumplings, General Practitioner and Logan Brown’s brand new Grill Meets Beer are a few of the eateries on offer to keep beer-drinkers fully satisfied.

And what would good food and beer be without a bit of entertainment? Beervana has gathered some talented local musicians to serenade you whilst you engage in serious beer-drinking. Between acts, beer seminars will inform those who not only like to drink beer, but like to know about brewing, so you can learn brewing tips and tricks as well beer history.

The festival offers four sessions, each of them five hours long. So whether you are a day-drinker, a night-drinker, or an all-weekend-long bender-drinker, you can enjoy all the beer that Beervana has to offer.
