Overview
It's time to don your best shirt and sunnies combo for the second Beers at the Basin. Even bigger, wilder and more Wellington than last year, expect to see eclectic and exciting craft beers from the likes of local legends Parrotdog, Garage Project and Taranaki Street's new Whistling Sisters. With the soulful vibes of Hollie Smith filling the Basin, and the late-afternoon intensity of Racing, expect some great tunes to collab with every great pour.
Innovative smaller breweries like Brooklyn's Double Vision (who brought us the Naughty Hopper) and Tinker Tailor will be pouring 11-7pm, and most are expected to have a special limited release beer, wine or cider especially for the event.
For those who prefer something a little less hoppy, new kids on the block Fortune Favours have funky ciders with a twist, so expect a hint of blueberry with that summer sun. Tiki Wines are the medal-winning, sustainable company from down south bringing you all the full-bodied reds, dry whites and floral roses you can think of.
This year's food vendors are as eclectic as the beers — from sustainable, plant-based Elemental Eats to Dutchy's Burger Joint (try the garlic mayo!), there's a van for every guest, whatever the dietary requirements. And with a max price of $8 per serving, why not try a little of everything? Just remember, this year the Basin has gone cashless, so if you want to start the party ASAP it's best to pre-load that badboy before you walk through the gates.
