Overview

This month Wellington Zoo is encouraging night owls to come out of the woodwork. Every Friday in March, the Newtown animal sanctuary will open its doors later than usual for an evening of animal spotting.

From 4pm until 7.30pm, visitors will be welcome to wander the grounds in the evening light, and see what the zoo's 100-plus species get up to after dark. There will be free keeper talks scheduled throughout the night where you can discover more about the resident meerkats, giraffes, native birds and monkeys. You can also experience close encounters at sunset with the sun bears and capybaras.

Entry is half price from 4pm.
