Overview

With Christmas just around the corner, get in the festive mood with a classy night out. The Royal New Zealand Ballet's latest production ventures in the dark, fantastical realms of Hansel & Gretel.

Get taken along for the ride as two tired, hungry children wander the forest before coming across a warm and welcoming gingerbread house.

This ballet takes inspiration from the old-fashioned magic of silent movies and music hall vaudeville. Featuring world premiere choreography by Loughlan Prior and a specially commissioned score by Claire Cowan, this show brings together award-winning talent in a spectacular show. Moreover, Hansel & Gretel will be the first full-length ballet score ever commissioned from a female composer in RNZB's history.

Accompanying the show is a live performance by Orchestra Wellington. This major premiere is not to be missed and brings together creative talents from around the country to retell a classic tale for audiences of all ages.
