Overview

In 2016, the Institut Français, launched a special worldwide event, that brought together a spectrum of experts to discuss significant global issues at La Nuit des Idées – The Night of Ideas. From its launch, the events saw philosophers, artists and scientists join in on collective conversations across the globe. Since then, The Night has been held in over 65 countries, with more than 200,000 attendees.

This year, the Embassy of France in New Zealand is proud to present the second Kiwi instalment, in our very own Te Papa. The global theme for 2020 is 'Being Alive'.  In New Zealand, the focus will be sharing French and Pacific perspectives on what it means to be alive today. This huge subject will be explored in its many facets through seminars, innovations and art. With such a jam-packed program, it's an absolute treat that it is all completely free. All you need to do to reserve your seat here.

The Night will kick off around 8pm until midnight on Friday, 31 January. More details on the lineup are to come soon.
