Overview

Having taken a break over the festive season, City Gallery’s Tuatara Open Late will make its first appearance for 2015 on Thursday 5 February.

As well as a programme of after-dark activities, drinks and supper treats, critically acclaimed indie-pop act Lawrence Arabia will perform a solo set. Lawrence Arabia is the musical guise of Auckland-based songwriter James Milne. Under the pseudonym Milne has released three albums, of which his second, Chant Darling, won the inaugural Taite Music Prize in 2010. Elsewhere, Milne has been involved in local groups The Reduction Agents, BARB and The Brunettes, and has toured as bass player for American band Okkervil River. He also dabbles in music for film and theatre and had a hand in the score for Taika Waititi's Eagle vs Shark.

Well-spoken fans of Auckland photographer Yvonne Todd will also be on hand to talk about their favourite works from the artist’s current exhibition. Around 150 photographs feature in her survey exhibition titled Creamy Psychology. Speakers include: lawyer and art enthusiast Nerissa Barber, Chrissie O from vintage clothing store Hunters and Collector, and local surgeon Simon Robinson.

All galleries will be open until 10pm.
