Overview
Tuatara Open Late has a treat in store for you on the first Thursday of every month. This month's lineup includes a panel discussion, exhibition tours, a schedule of experimental short films, and finally, a live (ticketed) performance by Samuel Flynn Scott.
The evening begins with the panel discussion The World's Way of Revealing Itself with writer Tim Corballis. Corballis will be discussing science, art, and the way we view the natural world around us. Following, the program of experimental short films, with the theme of sound, selected by Catherine Fowler, Associate Professor in Film, University of Otago.
Samuel Flynn Scott, NZ musician, and composer will also be live for an intimate and ticketed performance. Tickets are on sale for $20 (adult), and $15 (students and City Gallery Friends).
Encounter international art with an intimate after-hours tour of UK artists Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt's work. The exhibition, Semiconductor: The Technological Sublime, explores video projects of unseen and unseeable worlds, making the invisible, visible. Eva Rothschild's Kosmos will also be on display, as the Irish-born sculptor puts her own spin on modernist-sculpture tradition.
Head to City Gallery on Thursday, 2 May, from 5pm, for good brews, chats, and art. General entry by donation.
