Overview

Wellington's winters may not be the friendliest, but the city sure knows how to behave when summer rolls around. Ring in the new year in style at the Wellington Wine & Food Festival, the annual celebration of sun, fun and fine cuisine.

The festival, held at Waitangi Park in early February, should be one of the first foodie events in your 2019 calendar. Round up your nearest and dearest and indulge in this all-day affair, bringing you some of the best local cuisine and samplings from carefully picked wineries and breweries.

In addition to a star-studded lineup of New Zealand and international wines, you'll be able to try local beer and cider favourites — Fortune Favours and Whistling Sisters to name a few. Looking for something non-alcoholic? Just grab a mocktail from award-winning mixologist Ray Letoa.

To keep you nourished and ready to party into the night, you'll be able to tuck into dishes from the likes of Restaurant 88, Crab Shack and House of Dumplings. Did we mention that all food items will be capped at a maximum price of $12? Don't be shy; make sure you get a bite of everything.

Musicians from both Wellington and out of town will be on hand — Anika Moa, Louis Baker, Niko Ne Zna, Tunes Of I — to provide sweet background tunes to your wining and dining. Good food, good drinks and good vibes — just the way summer in Wellington should be.
