Overview
Everyone has their own Australia Day traditions. In the country town of Coriole, theirs includes eskies filled with beer, many a snag on many a barbecue, and the biggest party they can possibly throw — and they'll do anything to make sure that it all comes to fruition.
Well, they will if the planning committee can first work through a few issues. Their topics of disagreement: what it means to be a true blue Aussie, and what a celebration of that fact should look like. Of course, everyone has a different opinion.
Both writing and directing, playwright Jonathan Biggins tackles the country's annual day of days, but he's doing more than slinging a heap of slang-fuelled sayings and inspiring a few love-filled laughs about a beloved public holiday. Both reflecting and dissecting the Australian psyche, he crafts a comedy that channels the continuing debate about our national identity in contemporary times.
