Overview
You know what they say, it takes a village to- Ok, we're not saying you should raise a child at a bar, but if you were going to, the Village Bar would be the spot. It's reliable — open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. It's welcoming, with exposed brick, vintage tiles, a fireplace and other heritage furnishings that are comforting in their familiarity. And it's relaxed, with a no-fuss energy that makes it ideal for a low-key meal and drink.
Eight massive TV screens make sure sport-obsessives never miss a goal, the music system keeps the dancefloor-fiends moving, while the trivia and open mic nights ensure the rest of us are entertained. It's got something for everyone — you can even chuck your favourite song on via the Crowd DJ app — which is what makes the Village one of Subiaco's favourite neighbourhood hangs.
The food menu is all about fresh, local produce, prepared simply — think oven-baked meatballs with mustard-mushroom sauce and ciabatta ($12.50), or braised beef cheeks with parmesan polenta and puttanesca sauce ($28.50). With 15 beers on tap and 16 wines by the glass, the drinks menu is also full of crowd pleasers. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can score $10 espresso martinis all night, while on Sundays, it's $10 jugs all day, perfect for your next Sunday sesh.
