Door Knock

A hard-to-find underground cocktail bar in the CBD.

Knock three times on the brass pineapple and wait. Then head through the door, down a staircase and along a dark corridor. Enter the bar and drink. Simple as that. And that's Door Knock.

In what was once a Scandinavian affair Norsk Dor, this secret joint is a similarly hard-to-find cocktail bar that has a distinctly different feel to its predecessor.

In the project of Natalie Ng (Mojo Records) and Justin Best, the cocktail and wine bar offers a different pace to the outside world. "We think of it as a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the CBD," Ng says. "If you're after a quick bite to eat and a beer — or just have some fun over a cocktail — Door Knock will be able to cater to all."

The cocktail and food menus change frequently due to seasonality and the team's "current obsession". Their drinks offerings include a staked collection of signature cocktails, fortified wines and a wide selection of local and foreign wines with natural and preservative-free expressions showing up across red, wine and sparkling options.

And just because this venue is more of a bar doesn't mean the team is flaking out on the food. Door Knock serves up elected bar snacks, small plates and bigger dishes (as well as "saucy sauces"). Currently, offerings include mac and cheese croquettes, radicchio and burrata salad with nashi pear and smoked chicken pappardelle.
