In a suburb that has so much top-notch Vietnamese food, it could be hard to stand out, but this spot has managed to do exactly that. Eat Fuh has been in the game for years, dishing up noodle soups, vermicelli and rice dishes in shopfronts and pop-up market stalls all over Sydney, so you know it has takeaway down pat. The signature Fuh Noodle Soup (pho) is the obvious order. Everything is packaged separately so you’ll just need to combine the steaming and surprisingly complex bone broth, layered with star anise, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and onions, with your chosen meat (we recommend the rare beef and flank), noodles and garnishes when it arrives at your door. Vegan? No worries, opt for the meat-free pho, which uses vegetable-based broth. Hot tip if you like to plan ahead: there’s the option to have the broth arrive cold to reheat when you’re ready to eat.

Eat Fuh is available for delivery via UberEats, Deliveroo, Menulog and DoorDash.

If you’re after sauce-drenched noods stacked with flavour, Biang Biang has your back. Known for its wide, thick noodles that are hand-pulled in-house, Biang Biang is a staple in any noodle lover’s itinerary. These noods originate from China’s Shaanxi province. They’ve traditionally got a bit of a kick, but Biang Biang has made them more accessible with the spice level dialled right down. You can’t go wrong with the house specialty: Biang Biang noodles topped with chilli. Or, you could level up by adding tomato and egg, stewed pork or eggplant. Order in, pair it with rougamo — pastry stuffed with cumin beef, pork or spicy potato — and make a night of it.

Biang Biang is available for delivery on UberEats, DoorDash and Menulog.

When you can’t be bothered cooking and you’re craving something reliable and delicious, Thai food has your back. Dodee Paidang’s house special is tom yum noodles. The recipe comes from the hugely popular Dodee Paidang chain in Thailand — owner Jiraporn Anukoonpajit claims to have perfected his recipe around 30 years ago, so you can be sure that it has lasted the test of time. Owner Somporn Phosri bought the recipe and opened up Sydney’s three outposts — this one in Chatswood, plus Bondi Junction and Haymarket.

The legendary soup in question is a sweet and sour broth flavoured with lemongrass, galangal, lime and Thai herbs and jazzed up with seafood and meat. All you have to do is choose how hot you want it: the spice level ranges from ‘monster’ (level one) to ‘super nova’ (level seven). Not a big chilli fan? Opt for the no chilli broth, cheekily named ‘nursery’.

Dodee Paidang is available for delivery through Menulog, UberEats and Deliveroo.

Haymarket’s Boon Cafe is located smack-bang in the middle of Thai Town. So, if it’s made this list, you know its food is something to talk about. The folks here serve top quality Thai street food from 10am–8.30pm, so there’s plenty of potential for either a mid-morning snack or a post-work feed. If it’s the former you’re after, order a toasted croissant with pandan spread.

Like most good quality Thai restaurants, you can’t go wrong with a chicken pad thai or beef pad si-ew. But your tastebuds will be rewarded for more experimental orders, too. May we recommend the suki pork? This delicious dish consists of glass noodles tossed with pork, water spinach and spicy fermented tofu broth. Also worth mentions are the bpla nueng ma-now (steamed fish with lime, garlic and chilli) and crab fried rice.

Boon Cafe offers delivery via Menulog.

Branch out from your usual Chinese food order with Tarim Uyghur. The popular Chinese restaurant serves up regional flavours from China’s far northwestern Xinjiang province, which is home to the Uyghur ethnic group. You won’t find your typical westernised Chinese meal here, so don’t go looking for a bowl of classic chow mein or pot of steamed xiao long bao. Expect a fusion of Central Asian and Turkish flavours influenced by the many cultures that surround the Silk Road. Indulge in lagman — traditional handmade noodles served with diced meat, sichuan pepper and cabbage — and cumin-spiced meats.

Out of all the killer noodle dishes available, ramen is a hot contender for our favourite. This dish is notoriously difficult to create at home (seriously, we’ve tried), so leaving it to the experts and getting noods delivered is a no-brainer. Gumshara specialises in tonkotsu ramen (pork bone broth), which is made from simmering over 200 kilograms of pork bone in water in its tiny food court outpost in Chinatown. You can’t go wrong with any of the Tonkotsu variations (black garlic, chilli and more). We guarantee one sip will warm your body like an electric blanket on a cold winter’s night. If you are brave enough to take on cooking ramen yourself, Gumshara has made it easy with DIY ramen kits.

You can order Gumshara via DoorDash and UberEats, or you can order its Mega Ramen and frozen cook-it-yourself ramen kits through the Haymarket spot’s website.
