For those of you lamenting the loss of two of Wellington's premier venue bars - Mighty Mighty and Puppies, take solace in the fact that MOON 1 has stepped up and offered their own sanctuary for gig seekers in Newtown, that small but infamous suburb just out of the inner city hustle.

MOON 1 asserts itself as a venue equally suited to quiet after work drinks or the first point of call on a night spent chasing quality tunes and unique brews. They aim to have live music playing every night.

With their funky moon grunge interior design and chilled out music, MOON 1 appeals to both Newtown locals and inner city dwellers looking for something a little different from the metropolitan bustle. Their arcade games tucked in the corner and great selection of pizzas caters to both family orientated folk and groups of friends looking for a boogie and shared bite to eat. If you can assign pizza time on a Wednesday when they have their pizza specials, indulge in the cheesy and nutty goodness of The Karen Dalton (usually $20 but $15 on a Wednesday), it is seriously out of this world.
