Overview

Listen up plant-powered people, there's a new vegan caravan in town. The Plant Blazed food truck has freshly sprouted between the cracks of concrete on Dunlop Terrace, and lucky for us, it's here to stay. Newly parked up in what once was a loading bay for Recycle Boutique, they have done a great job of cosying up the place with a mural, fairy-lights and plenty of outdoor dining space. The convenient location and impeccable playlist means it's a perfect spot for a sunny lunch break or after work catch up. You can also complete your meal with a fresh cup of People's Coffee or Six Barrel Soda. Nothing gets more Wellington than that.

Started by Simon Lyons and Scott McLeod, these guys offer perfect plant-based comfort food. Trust us, it'll blow the minds of even the most carnivorous of folks. The menu comprises of burgers, bowls and 'dawgs' — veggie hot dogs with a plethora of different toppings for your tastebuds. Impressively, the menu is entirely vegan and the 'meats' — which includes the dawgs and crispy seitan — are all made in house.

On that note, we wholeheartedly recommend their seitan burgers, particularly The Howlin' Wolf — southern fried seitan, chilli-citrus slaw, barbecue sauce and aioli. However, if you're a fiend for fire, upgrade to the Smokestack. This completes the Wolf burger with smoked cheese, gherkins, optional hot sauce — which is made in-house, too. If you live on the spicy side of life, also try the Nina Simone dawg, topped with chilli, jalapeños, coriander salsa and cheese sauce. However, if you're looking for a traditional moreish hot dawg, try the David Bowie — stuffed with facon, sauerkraut, gherkins, cheese, onions, tomato sauce and mustard. The Sea Shepard burger also ranks very highly as it really shows off the chef's creativity. It's a pulled jackfruit and chickpea 'fish' burger with spiced tofu crackling, onion and cheese — and trust us, you'll be herding your friends along to try this one.

To be honest, we could keep going, but we will let you peruse the full menu here. Don't forget, there are daily specials and fresh food bowls, so check with the chefs about what's good. Honestly, all we can say is, damn dawg, this is really good food. Welcome to the capital Plant Blazed, we're glad you're here.
