Overview

If you haven't yet jumped on the bao bandwagon, prepare to meet the restaurant and bar that will have you eating all things steamed, filled and bun-like. Of course you'll find it in the middle of Fortitude Valley's Chinatown. And of course it has a name that shows it love of its chosen cuisine.

At Bao Down Now, the humble bao — as freshly made not just all day and night, but into the early hours of the morning — reigns, for both eating in and taking away. Whether pork belly, karaage chicken or crispy hot and sour crab takes your fancy, you'll find it here. That's not all you'll find.

As its 16-hour, seven-day trading hours indicate, hanging out in couch seating and having a drink while listening to house and guest DJs are also on the Wickham Street establishment's menu. As are teapot cocktails for two to four people to share, which are exactly what they sound like. You haven't had Korean Sangria or Vietnamese Coffee — with alcohol, of course — like this before.
