Overview

Southern Cross have got your summer sustenance and entertainment sorted. With a ridiculously ‘gram-able courtyard, it’s the perfect spot to get the gang together and sink a few brews and enjoy the regular free entertainment on offer. Southern Cross frequently hosts live music gigs; Thursday night is quiz night; Mondays are for Stitch and Bitch Knitting Circle, and come summer there's a weekly Monday Outdoor Movie Night in the courtyard from 8pm. Blankets, hot water bottles and popcorn will all be on hand. If organized events aren’t your jam, try your hand at giant jenga or the board games. With all this on offer, Southern Cross is extremely child, or “critter” friendly.

With so many spaces to explore and staff that feel like long lost friends, it’s worth giving yourself plenty of time to soak up all that’s on offer. Try some of Wellington’s best craft beer – Black Dog and Garage Project are both on tap, alongside the standard Export and Monteiths bevvies.

Don’t worry, they’ll feed you, too. There’s a diverse range of cabinet food available if you’re in a hurry, or a fantastic brunch menu for the morning after. However, Southern Cross is more famous for its stonegrill. For those unfamiliar with stonegrill, you cook your own meal at your table on a 400 degree Celcius volcanic rock. As the stones take a while to heat, there’s a limited supply, so they’re available on a first in, first served basis. If that’s not enough to get you going, on Monday and Tuesday they have a two-for-one deal.

We could go on for hours about all that Southern Cross has going for it, but it’s best you check it out for yourself.
