Although Wellington caters well for plant eaters but getting food on the go can still be a bit of a challenge. If we don't prepare, most of the time we are stuck with a salad or a side order of fries. Fortunately, with the recent opening of Press Hall on Willis Street, everyone from carnivore to herbivore are well fed. However, there's one particular spot that's receiving a lot of love from vegetarians: Aroha.

First known amongst plant lovers from its involvement in Wellington's Vegan Vault, Aroha, has now sprouted in the central city to permanent and cosy corner of Press Hall. In the hall there is plenty of space, perfect for any lunch break or after work catch up. Aroha entices you to its section with an entirely plant-based menu, giving vegans what they most desire most, choice.

Only for $9, you can get a huge bowl of lovely Tom Yum soup with toasted Turkish bread. Like most of Aroha's meals, this one is fantastic to hunker down with as the wind howls. However, when the sun is shining, grab a chocolate peanut butter banana mylkshake for some morning tea. If you're stopping by for a quick lunch or dinner the highlights are definitely the vegan burgers — particularly the marinated tempeh and smokey seitan flavours. The beauty of these burgers are the fresh taste, and perfectly textured patty. The fillings do not fall victim to the over-oily and fried style that a lot of vege options do. The kebabs are also a personal favourite, the mock meat is so flavoursome when soaked in the spicy satay. With most orders we recommend ordering some sesame jackfruit or barbecue steamed buns on the side — it's just a tasty way to round out your meal. For something lighter, food bowls full of veges and grains with your choice of protein are also on the menu.

Ultimately, Aroha offers simple and fresh food for vegetarians on the run. With a wider selection on the menu, Aroha will become a quick favourite of plant-based Wellingtonians.
