With its huge portions, low prices and buzzing atmosphere, Bar Reggio is a contender as one of Sydney’s favourite Italian eateries. And luckily for you, you can enjoy its excellent pizzas, hot and fresh out of the oven, from the comfort of your home. We recommend the Trecolore (mozzarella, rocket, garlic and prosciutto), the Reggio (chilli prawns and garlic) and the Alcatraz (broccoli, sundried tomatoes and garlic). While pizza is the main event for us, any order should also include at least one pasta dish, especially the creamy gnocchi pesto or the penne amatriciana — made with olives, bacon and spicy napoli sauce. As with any true Italian joint, all sauces are made in-house at Bar Reggio, and the restaurant uses only high-quality Italian meats and cheese.
You can order Bar Reggio for pick-up via its website or delivery through UberEats and DoorDash.

Chat Thai has a cult-like following in Sydney, and for good reason. The brand’s well-priced, well-portioned and authentic tasting Thai food is hard to beat, as is the huge variety of dishes you can order — some of which you may not already know.
Sure, it has got your classic padt si-ew (pad see-ew), mussamun nuea (massaman beef) and papaya salad. But Chat Thai is also slinging suki (braised chicken with glass noodles in a spicy fermented tofu broth) and grapao bped (five-spice roasted duck stir-fried with fresh chilli, garlic and basil). If you want a bit of everything but don’t want to share with your roommates (hey, no judgment here), go for the ‘one plate wonders’ option, which pairs some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes — like grilled turmeric and lemongrass chicken and stir-fried crispy pork belly — with a single serving of rice.
Chat Thai offers delivery via UberEats, DoorDash and Menulog.

Mamak is Malaysian hawker food at its best, and its roti is a thing of legend in these parts. It’s flaky, chewy, oh-so-buttery and downright addictive. You can choose from both savoury and sweet, but we recommend ordering a bit of both. For savoury, the original roti canai is hard to beat, but there’s also an egg and onion roti telur bawang, and the spicy murtabak lamb to consider. All of the savoury options come with two curries and spicy sambal sides. The satay is another crowd pleaser and worth ordering as a side. To satisfy your sweet tooth, choose from sweet roti options like kaya butter or sliced bananas.
Mamak is available to order for pickup online or delivery via UberEats and DoorDash.

Lebanese-style charcoal chicken is synonymous with El Jannah in Sydney. Its cult status is well-deserved, and we won’t blame you for buying its addictive toum (garlic sauce) by the tub. Depending on how many people you’re ordering for, choose from a quarter, half or whole chicken, served with cucumber and radish pickles, Lebanese bread and its famous garlic sauce. If you’re looking to change it up, the chain’s range of chicken burgers is also, unsurprisingly, top-notch — especially the EJ Crispy. The Granville original also recently blessed the inner west with the El Jannah Express outlet in Newtown, taking the chain to the next level.
Order El Jannah online for pickup, via UberEats, DoorDash or Menulog for delivery, or if you live near the Smithfield location, pick-up your chicken at the store’s drive-thru.

This late-night haunt is among the best takeaway joints around and has garnered food-loving reverence from Sydneysiders everywhere. While Indian Home Diner serves up heaps of the cuisine’s best-known dishes — including curries, tandoori bread and samosas — the go-to here is the Indian kebab. These are wrapped in plain or garlic naan, instead of the Lebanese bread you get in most local kebab shops. Choose from the classic, double chicken tikka, meat curry, veggie or jumbo garlic cheese varieties. Each comes topped with your choice of aloo chop (potato croquette) or onion bhaji. Yep, it’s big, bold and you’ll eat up every last bite.
Indian Home Diner is open for pickup or you can order delivery via Menulog, DoorDash and UberEats.

It may be contentious to call out Sydney’s best fish and chips — but once you taste the Mohr Fish version, we’re confident that you’ll agree with us. Operating since 1992, this Surry Hills mainstay has been considered the highest benchmark when it comes to this takeaway classic. Here, it’s all about beer battering, with perfectly golden fish paired with equally impressive chips (or mash and salad, if you’re a nonconformist). Sure, there’s heaps more on the menu, including crumbed and grilled fish, burgers and a range of other seafood — think sichuan pepper soft shell crab and steamed mussels. But we guarantee you’ll be left with enormous food envy if anyone in your group gets the good ol’ fashioned fish and chips.
Mohr Fish is open for pick-up or you can order delivery via DoorDash.

Casual Turkish eatery The Sultan’s Table has been an Enmore stalwart for nearly 20 years. The restaurant does all of the classics very well, including kebab rolls, HSPs and pides — all in Turkish-style sausage, diced lamb and vegetarian varieties. But the go-to here is the kebab plates. Take your pick from adana (hand-chopped lamb meat), kofte, lamb or chicken shish. If you want a bit of everything (and you should), choose the mixed plate, and make sure to add the optional salad, fresh chilli and jajik. Alongside the plate, we recommend ordering a few dips to share, with the baba ganoush, hummus, spinach and beetroot dips all a must when hitting up this Sydney takeaway joint.

Serving high-quality chicken shop meals since 1992, this family-owned chain has been Sydney’s go-to destination for peri-peri lovers for nearly 30 years. Known for its Portuguese flavours and chooks barbecued over natural charcoal fire pits, Frangos has eight locations sprawled across Sydney. The menu stretches from whole charcoal chickens and vibrant salads to Portuguese-style rice and barbecue sweet corn, however the star of the show is the burgers. It’s hard to go past the OG Portuguese burger combo, covered in mayo and Frangos’ beloved chilli sauce, however if you like your takeaway with a real kick, the recently added Fiery Lover Burger is a delight, piled high with jalapenos, bacon and grilled red onions. If you’re still hungry after polishing off a burger and a mountain of chicken-salted chips, treat yourself to a pick from the dessert menu, featuring creme caramel, chocolate mousse and Portuguese tarts.
All Frangos stores are open for takeaway or you can order delivery via UberEats.

Eat Fuh has been in the game for years, dishing up noodle soups, vermicelli and rice dishes in shopfronts and pop-up market stalls all over Sydney, so you know it has takeaway down pat. The signature Fuh Noodle Soup (pho) is the obvious order. If you order it in-store, it comes in a giant, seemingly bottomless bowl. Order it via delivery and everything is packaged separately so you’ll just need to combine the steaming and surprisingly complex bone broth, layered with star anise, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and onions, with your chosen meat (we recommend the rare beef and flank), noodles and garnishes when it arrives at your door. Vegan? No worries, opt for the meat-free pho, which uses vegetable-based broth. Hot tip if you like to plan ahead: there’s the option to have the broth arrive cold to reheat when you’re ready to eat.
Eat Fuh’s seven Sydney locations are all open for takeaway or delivery via UberEats, DoorDash and Menulog.
