Overview
Newstead's The London Club offers a slice of the big smoke that many of us probably haven't been privy to during our travels. With tall, dark and handsome book cases, decadent chandeliers and suave leather sofas, The London Club gives Brisbane patrons a tiny taste of an old fashioned, English gentleman's clubs. A place where fancy men wearing monocles play chess, drink scotch and smoke pipes. Yes, it is burgeoning on the side of clinched but the dark and sultry venue has just enough elegance to come across as more than a gimmick.
Located in an old wool store building, The London Club is separated into 3 different sections. The lounge section, filled with comfy leather couches and raised tables and stools, is made for nibbling on tapas and enjoying a cosy after work drink. The restaurant segment of the venue is made up of soft red bench seats and long wooden tables which bask under romantic chandeliers. The venue then also offers alfresco dining on the front terrace.
The London Club is a popular haunt for corporate types and is at its most popular on Friday nights for after work drink sessions. The drink menu is made up of an extensive selection of fine wine, Champagne, cocktails and over 40 Australian crafted beers. Although The London Club is open for breakfast and brunch, its the tapas, lunch and dinner menus that really shine. On the tapas menu you'll find Mediterranean flavours, while mains are hearty meals including eye fillet, char grilled lamb back-strap and wild river barramundi.
