Overview

While a 2am kebab might as well be a 5-course degustation to any intoxicated soul, there are others whose 2am soul searching calls for finer taste. Finding a decent feed late at night, even just after 8.30pm, can be a struggle in this fair city and so we're quite glad Alfredo's opened their doors. In even better news they've just added delivery to their services – say hello to pizza and alcohol delivered right to your door.

Part of Damian Griffith's ever-growing empire, Alfredo's Pizzeria is carving a path of its own and not letting its good name be overshadowed by popular older sister Alfred and Constance next door. The two share a kitchen but couldn't produce more different fare. In house, Alfredo's also boasts  a giant pizza oven, pumping out the likes of new Brisbane favourite 'Brown Sugar' – a game-changing combo of meatballs, pancetta & provolone, bourbon and BBQ sauce.

Not getting ahead of ourselves, the first thing you should order is a serve of arancini ($12.9). The four mushroom and mozzarella filled morsels are served with a huge parmesan crisp and side of aioli. If you too go weak at the word 'aioli' proceed to order the calamari ($14.9) too, you won't regret it.

Next up is the usual Italian restaurant dilemma – pizza or pasta? For some, it's easy, but for all us fence sitters out there it's a bit like the chicken and egg dilemma. Here, however, Alfredo himself is playing favourites, offering just three pasta options to 11 pizzas. But you'd be foolish to walk by the parmesan gnocchi ($24.9). Touting the biggest gnocchi around, this giant gooey pillows work wonders in the cream truffle sauce with wood mushrooms. Italian food is notoriously heavy and the grilled peach and prosciutto salad ($14.9) has your back to lighten the mood.

With pizza names like Piggy and the Stooges, Axl Rose, Wild Things and Rock the Casbah it's pretty clear the combinations will be anything but ordinary. Try wild mushrooms, truffle tapenade, thyme and pecorino on for size, or perhaps moroccan chicken, shallots, drunken raisins and mint yogurt suits you better. We all know pork belly is 'meat of the moment', but have you ever had it on a pizza? It's next level good when paired with apple sauce, potato  and crackling.

If you're lucky you might even get to meet Mr Alfredo. The white-haired wonder is the grandfather figure you'll all wish to aspire to – he's charming, well-dressed and always surrounded by beautiful young women. Safe to say, he's still got it.
