In an effort to contain COVID-19, stacks of events across the country have been axed, large cultural institutions have shut and council facilities have temporarily closed. And, with the government encouraging social distancing and mandating that everyone who's arrived from overseas must self-isolate for 14 days, there's also been a spike in the number of people now spending more time at home.

As a result, bars, cafes and restaurants are adapting by beefing up their takeaway options and launching new delivery meals. So, you can put down that fifth can of Aldi tuna and pick up the phone, knowing you'll be doing a local business a solid while also getting to eating a tasty, fancy, succulent meal.

Here are all the restaurant-quality eats you can order takeaway or have delivered to your doorstep.

Mono-XO by Kristoffer Paulsen

Chargrill Charlie's (Camberwell)
The chargrilled chicken masters are now serving all meals in takeout containers. You can only pay using a credit card or the Chargrill Charlie's app and right now you can take up the offer of a $10 credit if you're downloading the app for the first time. And if you're after delivery, you can find them on UberEats.

Estelle (Northcote)
Right now, your tastebuds can take advantage of a new, rotating menu of takeaway dishes from Scott Pickett's Northcote gem Estelle. On Monday, March 23, you can order a red duck curry for $45, available to pick up from the venue between 5–8pm.

Fancy Hank's (CBD)
The American barbecue joint has ready-made meal packs for $25 a head, filled with smoked meats, mac 'n' cheese, salad, pickles and a bottle of Fancy Hank's sauce. They're available for pick-up alongside a selection of smoked meats, like vac-sealed brisket, which can be ordered here. The final pick-up time is 9pm on Tuesday, March 24.

Cantina Carolina (South Yarra), Marameo (CBD), Bar Carolina (South Yarra) and Il Bacaro (CBD)
Joe Mammone's four Italian-leaning venues are each offering takeaway menus based on the dishes you already love. Try Cantina Carolina's lamb shoulder pappardelle or chicken cotoletta as a main and a cannoli for dessert, Marameo's porcini risotto or grilled spatchcock, or Bar Carolina has plates like fritto misto and salt-crust barramundi. Or, you might fancy splurging on Il Bacaro's takeaway menu, which can be delivered within a 3km radius for orders over $100. Cheer yourself up with dishes like goat ragu pappardelle and agave nectar cheesecake.
